God Loves Everyone — He Gave His Only Begotten Son

It’s a central tenet of Christianity that God loves all people. It’s based on a conviction about what it means to be God himself — an unchanging, loving, and unconditional compassion for all of humanity.

Therefore, in John 3:16, we are reminded of this fact:

“God loved the world so, He gave His one and only begotten Son, whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

This text shows us what agape love is all about — a profound, sacrificing, and even unfathomable love to mortals.

The Nature of God: Love Above All

God’s character IS love. It’s not merely one of His many attributes — it IS who He is. Love belongs to His being; it is eternal, pure, and unconditional. God does not pick and choose to love one moment and not the next moment thereafter. His love fails not, and it does not change, nor does it wane.

God’s love is not grounded on performance or merit like human love is. It’s neither earned nor deserved nor lost by doing things wrong. It’s a free gift — a manifestation of His grace. Even during our rebellion and brokenness, God’s heart is opened up, waiting to forgive and repair.

Mourning Those We Have Lost

Throughout the Bible, we witness God’s abiding compassion for lost and suffering people. Jesus portrays God’s willingness to leave the ninety-nine to seek after the one lost sheep by telling His parable of it. That is not a parable, merely a portrait of how relentlessly God seeks after each of His souls.

Different Ways of Showing Divine Love

Theologically, we can understand God’s love by embracing ways:

  1. Benevolent Love — God’s goodness to all of His creation. His merciful spirit and compassion are universal.
  2. Love of Beneficence — It’s all about how God is good and how He provides for everybody, whether they are good or bad. Just like Jesus told us, “The rain falls upon the just as well as the unjust.
  3. Love of Complacency — God really enjoys it when people are faithful and do what He asks.

Every expression shows a bit of His heart — caring for the whole world, keeping all life going, and finding happiness in the faithful.

Love as a Choice

Though His character is love, He also * chooses* to love. His actions reflect His choice offering forgiveness, redemption, and relation to those who turn to Him. His love is both universal and deeply personal as a consequence.

When Love’s a Bit of a Puzzle

You know, growing up in a world of pain, of unfairness, of sorrow, it’s difficult to harmonise God’s love with all we see here on Earth. Even at life’s bleakest point, His love is available to us, to bring peace, hope.

Love and justice are not incompatible qualities of God’s character — far from it. They actually complement each other.

A Love That Changes Everything

God’s love not just asks us to believe but to be transformed to live out of compassion, forgiveness, and love ourselves. As we absorb His love, we are made complete, our bodies are restored, our mind is calm, and our spirit is revitalized.

In a nutshell, it’s a short but meaningful message:

God’s love is for everyone, you know? That’s why He sent His one and only — so that that love, forgiveness, and life are all available to everyone who believes.
