It’s the Small Things That Matter
Jesus said, “Whoever can be trusted with small things can be trusted with big things, too; and whoever cheats in small matters will also cheat in bigger ones” (Luke 16:10). Doing the Little Things Right is what counts.
So what are these “small things” in life? People would probably answer this in many different ways. But looking at what Jesus was saying here. One of the main “small things” He’s talking about is how we handle money.
For many people, making money or getting rich seems like one of life’s biggest goals. Some people play the lottery hoping for a big win, while others put in long hours to climb the career ladder for a higher salary.
Still, others just daydream about what they’d do if they were wealthy. But, from God’s viewpoint, material wealth is a small matter.
Money has its place as a practical tool. Money helps us to take care of ourselves and our families, but it doesn’t have much importance beyond that.
One way to show God we’re ready for greater responsibilities is to use our money wisely. This means not letting money become the focus. But seeing it as just one tool among many to serve God’s purpose.
If we keep our financial desires in check and try to use what we have as God would want, we’re preparing ourselves for greater spiritual things.
God wants to involve us in the bigger work of sharing His love and truth with others. But first, He waits for us to show we can be faithful with these smaller, everyday responsibilities.
Reflect
Take some time today to think about how you handle small things in life. God has amazing things in mind for each of us. He wants to work through us to do good in the world.
If that’s something you want, focus on doing even the small things with care and kindness.
Look for ways to put others first, be thoughtful, and use your resources to serve God’s purposes.
When we’re faithful in these little ways, God will open doors to even greater things. Over time, our small acts will start to make a real difference in our lives and in others’.
Prayer
As I serve You in these little ways. May I also be ready to serve in the greater things You have planned. My life is Yours, Lord. Use me as you will. Jesus, I love You. Amen
